What a kundli is

A kundli is the map of where everything in the sky was at the moment you were born, drawn from the place you were born in. Everything else in Vedic astrology is read off it.

This page gives the whole standard set free — the Lagna and Navamsa charts, planetary positions with dignity and nakshatra, fourteen further divisional charts, the karakas, and a Vimshottari dasha running to 120 years.

Reading the table above

Start with the Lagna chart. The rising sign sits in the first house and everything is counted from there, which is why an accurate birth time matters more here than any other input.

The positions table is where the detail is: each graha with its sign, the degree inside that sign, its nakshatra and pada, its navamsa sign, and whether it is exalted, in its own sign, debilitated, combust or retrograde.

The dasha tree at the bottom runs nine periods across 118 years for a chart, the shortest six years and the longest nineteen. Expand a period to see the sub-periods inside it.

What each name means

LagnaThe rising sign — the sign coming over the eastern horizon at your birth. The first house.
Navamsa (D-9)The ninth divisional chart. Traditionally read alongside the main chart for marriage and for a planet's underlying strength.
NakshatraOne of 27 lunar mansions. Your Moon's nakshatra is what the whole dasha sequence is built from.
Vimshottari DashaThe 120-year cycle of planetary periods, each handing to the next in a fixed order.
CombustA graha too close to the Sun to be seen, traditionally read as weakened.
KarakaA significator — the planet that stands for a subject. Sthir karakas are fixed; chara karakas depend on degree.

What people get wrong

“My sign is the one from the newspaper.”
That is the Sun sign, and Western astrology uses a different zodiac from this one. Vedic practice reads primarily from the Moon sign and the rising sign, and the two zodiacs currently differ by about 24 degrees — which is most of a sign. Your Vedic Sun sign is usually the one before the Western one.
“If I do not know my birth time the chart is useless.”
Parts of it are still sound. The planets barely move in an hour, so their signs, nakshatras and the whole dasha sequence hold up. What a wrong time breaks is the rising sign and therefore every house — so read the positions and ignore the houses until you can confirm the time.
“A debilitated planet is bad news.”
It is one factor among many, and the classical texts have several ways a debilitation is cancelled. A chart is read as a whole; no single flag in the table decides anything.
“All chart sites should agree exactly.”
They will agree on signs and disagree in the last minutes of arc, because ayanamsa values differ slightly between implementations and house systems differ more. If two sites put a planet in different signs, one of them is usually using a different zodiac altogether rather than being wrong.

Questions people ask

What is the difference between this and the chart on another site?
The arithmetic is standard and should match. What differs is what is done with it — this page gives you the chart and stops, deliberately.
Which is more important, the Moon sign or the rising sign?
Both, for different things. The rising sign sets the houses and is read for the body and the life's shape; the Moon sign is read for the mind and is what the dasha is built from. Vedic practice leans on both far more than on the Sun.
Why are there so many divisional charts?
Each one magnifies a different area — the ninth for marriage and fortune, the tenth for work, and so on. They are derived from the same positions, not from new data, so they add resolution rather than information.
Does this save my chart?
Not from this page. It computes and shows; nothing is stored against your name.

Before you rely on this

  • Check your birth time before relying on the rising sign. It changes about every two hours, and it is what the houses are counted from — a wrong time moves every house while leaving every planet where it is.
  • This is the chart, not a reading of it. Nothing here interprets what the placements mean for you.
  • Ask about the parts deliberately left out. There is no Bhrigu Bindu timeline, no yoga list, no strength scoring — those live behind the paid surfaces.
